The Department of Veterans Affairs' handbook for lenders making VA-guaranteed loans: lender approval, eligibility and entitlement, the funding fee, underwriting (residual income, debt ratios), appraisals, closing costs and the guaranty. Not law: 38 CFR Part 36 carries the rules and this states the program as VA runs it. A US government work, quoted and cited by page. The PDF is the January 2022 compilation; VA now maintains the chapters on the KnowVA portal and a chapter there may be newer, so a figure read here carries the 2022 edition and the current chapter is checked before it is stated as current.
